I am a final year student on the BA (Hons) Multimedia Journalism course at Bournemouth University. I chose to produce a radio documentary this year about tokophobia - the fear of pregnancy and childbirth.

This blog aims to keep you up to date on the progress of my documentary. I will be posting additional information, exclusive content from original interviews and my own musings about tokophobia. I want to provide tokophobes with a platform dedicated to their fears and the support they can receive to help combat them.

I want to educate people on tokophobia, as I myself didn't know what it was before further research. This phobia can affect men and women, pregnant or not. Dame Helen Mirren for example, decided never to have children after watching a graphic sex education video.

 

This is a complex fear that has limited media coverage focussed upon the individuals themselves and I'd like to change that.
